Cartwright is a small unincorporated community located in Williams County, North Dakota, United States. It is located about 20 miles northwest of the city of Williston and has a population of around 50 people. The community was named after one of its early settlers, a man named Cartwright. The main industries in Cartwright are agriculture and oil production, and the town serves as a residential area for those who work in the nearby oil fields. The community is served by the Cartwright Public School, which provides education to students in grades K-8. Despite its small size, Cartwright offers several outdoor recreational opportunities, including hunting, fishing, and camping, as well as a few local businesses, such as a convenience store and a gas station.
